Entomology Advocacy Week 2025 is August 18-22!  #EntVocate

Many ESA members already engage in outreach activities throughout the year. Entomology Advocacy Week is a concentrated effort to target policymakers with science that matters so that evidence-based decision-making becomes the norm at all levels of government. 

Get involved in Entomology Advocacy Week 2025!

  • Sign up for our grassroots advocacy alerts!
  • Monday, August 18, ESA will host a webinar with ESA leaders and Science Policy Fellows about ways to get involved at the local, state, and federal level!
  • Tuesday, August 19, we'll express concerns to Congress about how the proposed USDA reorganization will sustain support for agricultural researchers, including those affiliated with the Bee Lab, in observance of National Honey Bee Day (August 16). 
  • Wednesday, August 20, is World Mosquito Day! We'll encourage Congress to support the reauthorization of the Kay Hagan Tick Act to address Vector-Borne Diseases carried by ticks and other blood-feeding vectors like mosquitoes.
  • Thursday, August 21, is a great day to let your members of Congress know what new or emerging invasive species pose a threat to the state or district
    Friday, August 22, we'll let Congress know why supporting the Stop Screwworm Act and providing funding for research, surveillance, and training will be critical to respond to the re-emergence of New World Screwworm in the U.S.!

Other ways to get involved:

Review the Science Policy Webinar from Dr. Marianne Alleyne, which presented five ways that you can take action.

  1. Request a meeting with your Senator or Representative
  2. Write (or call) your lawmaker about an issue
  3. Write an op-ed for your local or national paper
  4. Get active on social media using #EntVocate
  5. Build your brand - and your institution's
