Insect Expo

The Entomological Foundation hosted more than 2,500 students during the Insect Expo held on September 28 during ICE 2016. The kids participated in activities including holding live insects, painting with termites, spitting crickets and eating fried meal worms! May Berenbaum

May R. Berenbaum (USA) was born in 1953. Swanlund Professor of Entomology at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. She graduated with a B.S. and honors in biology from Yale University and received a Ph.D. from Cornell University in ecology and evolutionary biology. Since 1980, she has been on the faculty of the Department of Entomology at UIUC, serving as head of the department since 1992.

Dr. Jules Hoffmann, Keynote Speaker

Dr. Hoffmann is a professor of integrative biology at the Strasbourg University Institute for Advanced Study. He is also emeritus research director of the French National Research Center, and he served as vice-president and president of the French National Academy of Sciences from 2006-2010.
