By volunteering their time and energy, ESA members fulfill vital leadership roles within the Society, making important decisions and carrying out essential functions as stated in the ESA Bylaws and Policy Manual.
The Branch Elections
ESA conducts elections annually in the winter for officers of the Eastern, North Central, Pacific, Southeastern, and Southwestern Branches. The 2026 Branch elections open January 7, 2026, and close February 8, 2026 at 11:59 p.m. U.S. Eastern Time. This year's election also includes a Society-wide vote for the ESA Bylaws amendment.

Please note that when voting, members will only see ballots for the elections in which they are eligible to vote. To be eligible to vote in a Branch election, membership of the respective Branch as of December 1 is required.
Instructions to access and complete the electronic ballot have been sent to all eligible voters via email. For additional information on voting, see ESA voting instructions.
The National Election
ESA conducts elections annually in the summer via electronic ballot for Governing Board positions, Sections and International Branch officers, and Honorary Membership. Members must be active as of June 1 to be eligible to vote in that year's elections. Candidates are typically announced in mid-June.
The 2026-2027 summer elections open July 15, 2026, and close August 17, 2026, at 11:59 p.m. U.S. Eastern Time. Instructions to access and complete the electronic ballot will be sent to all eligible voters via email.
