Students who present 10-Minute Presentations in the Student Competition will be evaluated in the following areas:
Scientific Content (50%)
- Introduction and background with pertinent literature cited; Relevant information discussed (10 points)
- Objectives or hypotheses clearly stated and concise / Objectives for teaching/extension programming clearly stated, concise, and addresses clientele or educational needs (10 points)
- Materials & methods (study design) clear and concise / Course or program design clearly stated. Statistical analyses and evaluation metrics are clear and appropriate (10 points)
- Interpretation of results and analyses are clear, concise, accurate, and addresses needs of target audience (10 points)
- Significance of results to field of study or teaching community or target audience clearly discussed (10 points)
Presentations (50%)
- Organization: Logical order, minimum redundancy, smooth transitions between presentation sections (10 points)
- Slides: Legible with large fonts, color contrast, no conflicting backgrounds. Text with no grammatical errors, not excessively wordy, effective use of figures and/or tables (15 points)
- Delivery: Clear and audible speech; Effective use of time (15 points)
- Other: Overall quality of presentation, ability to answer questions, other positive attributes (10 points)
